Introduction
Smart Dental Academy offers a Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship combining classroom-based learning and dental practice experience. We support learners in securing a placement, gaining hands‑on skills, and achieving GDC registration while earning and building a career in dentistry.

What You’ll Do
- Assist dentists and the wider dental team during clinical procedures
- Prepare and maintain the surgery, equipment, and instruments
- Clean, decontaminate, and sterilise instruments in line with HTM 01-05
- Mix and handle dental materials as directed
- Welcome, support, and reassure patients throughout their visit
- Maintain accurate patient records and update notes under supervision
- Follow infection control, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures
- Support stock control, ordering, and general housekeeping duties
- Work as part of a professional team while developing confidence and initiative

Training Outcome
On successful completion, you will qualify as a Dental Nurse and be eligible to register with the General Dental Council (GDC). You may progress into roles such as Lead Dental Nurse, Senior Dental Nurse, or Practice Manager.
Further development opportunities include post‑qualification courses such as oral health education, sedation nursing, radiography, or impression taking. With additional study, progression into Dental Hygiene or Dental Therapy may also be possible.
