Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with previous health or social care experience to support our team in providing occupational therapy to elective orthopaedic patients. The team are predominately based at the new Princess Royal Bristol Surgical Centre at Southmead Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist, work with patients on the wards and in therapy areas to provide a range of interventions to facilitate recovery and promote independence.
  • Treat patients within acute specialties, providing a range of interventions to facilitate recovery and promote independence.
  • Work with patients towards their functional goals and assist timely discharge from hospital, including personal and domestic activities of daily living and organising and implementing physical treatment sessions from treatment protocols.
  • Monitor patient progress, adapting treatment as necessary with advice from an occupational therapist.
  • Perform both direct patient contact and indirect patient‑related duties, and undertake some administration and departmental duties.

Education and Training

  • Essential: Good standard of GCSE education; evidence of literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Desirable: Level 3 qualification in health or social care.

Work Experience

  • Essential: Previous NHS or social care experience; experience of working in a busy environment; experience of team working.
  • Desirable: Use of initiative, as described in application.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Essential: Good written communication and IT skills; knowledge and awareness of disability.
