Band 3 – UTC Clinical Support Worker – Emergency Dept – EDGH

We are keen to attract Clinical Care Navigator who are looking for new challenges and opportunities. This post will support the G.P service in the Urgent Treatment Centre based in Emergency Care; you will be exposed to caring for different groups of patients and may be required to assist Accident and Emergency Department.

We are looking for experienced Clinical Support Workers; hospital experience is desirable but not essential. A minimum of GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths. You will be required to act as front line Clinical/Clerical support, supporting the patient journey through the Urgent Treatment Centre.

Successful applicants will be required to complete an Induction course, which will include all the Trust statutory/Mandatory training to join our team. You will need to be well motivated and committed to high standards of patient care and personal professional development.

You must be able to work as part of a team, use your own initiative with effective interpersonal and communication skills, contributing fully as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. We will provide a supportive atmosphere, mentorship and clinical supervision on the unit and are committed to the professional development of all staff. Team working is an integral part of this unit with all staff enabled and empowered to make a real difference for their patient.

Main duties of the job

The role will be to provide delegated clinical procedures such as insertion/removal of cannula, venepuncture, wound assessment and simple dressings, removal of urinary catheter. Training will be provided.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths
  • Care Certificate (or willing to work towards)
  • 5 GCSE grade 4 or C and above or equivalent
  • Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc
  • Education and training to NVQ level 3/Work based diploma or equivalent
  • Training and competence in clinical tasks relevant to role e.g. Cannulation, wound care, ECG

Experience

  • Relevant experience of working in Health or Social Care Environment delivering personal care or health care experience gained through an education programme
  • Relevant experience working in the NHS

Skills

  • Ability to work under instruction from a Registered Professional without direct supervision and support
  • Digital Skills, use of systems and ability to use physiological recording equipment and record findings
  • Good communication skills and ability to document care episode or event on digital systems or written
  • Ability to undertake vital observations and recognise any concerns that require escalation to a registered professional
  • Ability to demonstrate Care and Compassion and Commitment to/for patients and carers
  • A clear desire to work in a care environment and understanding of role
  • Able to maintain information confidentially
  • Evidence of development of knowledge and skills relevant to role
  • Training and competence in clinical tasks relevant to role e.g. Cannulation, wound care, ECG

Salary: £25,760 to £27,476 per annum, pro rata
