Bath & North East Somerset Council invites applications for a Care Assistant position at its Community Resource Centre in Combe Lea, Midsomer Norton. The role is part‑time with a permanent contract.

About the Role

This Care Assistant will support older vulnerable adults with a variety of disabilities in a residential care home. The position is part‑time, 27.75 hours per week, on a 4‑week rolling rota, with shifts that may include weekends, nights, and bank holidays.

Key responsibilities include providing high‑quality care, promoting independence, and working collaboratively with carers and support teams to enhance residents’ wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver person‑centred care and health services to residents in a safe environment.
  • Assist residents with daily living activities and promote their independence.
  • Operate care equipment safely in accordance with training.
  • Maintain professional and respectful relationships with residents, carers, and colleagues.
  • Support the team in delivering a broad range of activities that enrich residents’ lives.

Qualifications

  • Good team player with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to develop appropriate professional relationships with residents and carers.
  • Commitment to deliver quality care and promote person‑centred service.
  • Previous experience in a care setting is desirable; commitment to learning is essential.
  • Backgrounds from nursing, learning disabilities, and health care are welcomed.
