We are looking for caring, reliable and experienced secondary English and maths tutors to support secondary‑aged children and young people in and around Bridgewater, Somerset.

Salary: £25.00 to £33.00 per hour.

This is an in‑person tuition role. Tuition will take place in the young person’s home and/or a suitable community setting, depending on the referral. Applicants must be able to travel to Bridgewater and the surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 in‑person tuition for secondary‑aged pupils in and around Bridgewater
• Delivering English and/or maths support tailored to each pupil’s needs
• Planning and delivering personalised learning activities
• Keeping brief records of session content, attendance, engagement and progress
• Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, anxiety, EBSA or gaps in education
• Working professionally with parents/carers and relevant professionals
• Traveling to pupils’ homes and/or suitable community settings

Essential Requirements

• Experience working with secondary‑aged pupils
• Strong subject knowledge in English and/or maths
• A patient, encouraging and flexible approach
• The ability to plan engaging, personalised learning sessions
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for young people
• Legal right to work in the UK
• Willingness to travel to in‑person tuition sessions in and around Bridgewater
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one) and suitable references

Desirable Qualities

• Qualified Teacher Status, particularly for referrals requiring a qualified teacher
• Experience as an educator, instructor or education professional with strong English and/or maths subject knowledge
