Apprentice Health Care Support Worker

Be part of the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust and start a career in nursing while working full-time as an apprentice. This apprenticeship will develop core health and caring skills required in the NHS, including completion of the Care Certificate, and will enable you to join either the Level2 or Level3 apprenticeship depending on your current or predicted GCSE results.

Responsibilities

  • Support patients with fluid and dietary requirements.
  • Assist with menu choices and personal care activities such as washing, dressing and toilet use.
  • Make beds, keep clinical areas clean and tidy, and maintain appropriate record keeping.
  • Help other clinical staff with their duties while working safely and calmly in wards and clinics.
  • Work clinical shifts on a full rotation basis, including 24‑hour periods, evenings and weekends as you progress.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Age 18+ in September2026 (must have the right to work in the UK and have lived in the UK for 3years).
  • Minimum level1 in Numeracy and Literacy (e.g. Functional Skills Level1, GCSE Maths and English GradeD/3 or above).
  • Aspiring to work as part of a team with a calm, caring and compassionate attitude.
  • Experience of working in a customer‑facing role and basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written; ability to work on own initiative and collaborate in a team.
  • Good time‑keeping and ability to adapt to flexible working patterns.
  • Comprehensive understanding of confidentiality and professional, positive behaviour.
