Caerphilly County Borough Council is seeking a Child Care Support Worker to join their Childrens Services directorate, based at Ty Penallta, Hengoed (CF82 7PG). This is a temporary role paying £106.26–£140.77 per day via Prism, starting 20 July 2026.
Working across various teams within Childrens Services, you will provide direct support to children, young people, and their families as part of assessed care and support plans. This includes work with Looked After Children, children subject to statutory or court-related orders, and those with care and support needs.
Responsibilities
- Delivering direct support based on assessed need
- Undertaking assessments of children and young people under the direction of a Team Manager or Senior Practitioner
- Representing the authority and liaising with statutory and voluntary partner agencies
- Maintaining accurate records on WCCIS
- Transporting young people to appointments
- Contributing to court proceedings where required
The role is mainly office‑based across Social Services offices in the borough, with community visits and flexible working including potential evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
The essential qualification is a Level2 Care qualification or equivalent on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales (CQFW). Candidates must hold a full UK CategoryB driving licence with business‑use insurance. An Enhanced DBS check including the Children’s Barred List is required.
