Overview

We are looking to recruit a Band5 Staff Nurse to our compassionate and innovative team based at West Berkshire Community Hospital. The role involves working within the West Berkshire area to deliver core and targeted services to children aged 5‑19 and their families. It offers a Monday‑Friday, term‑time, 9am‑5pm working pattern.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted support to children, young people, and their families where there is an identified health need, including coordination of health‑care plans.
  • Undertake training of school staff in the administration of emergency treatment and care (e.g. Severe Allergic Reaction, Asthma and Epilepsy) and provide updates as required.
  • Assist in the delivery of nurse‑led clinics, such as enuresis and referral clinics.
  • Provide targeted health interventions to children and young people with identified health needs.
  • Work independently within educational settings in the planning, implementation and evaluation of health promotion activities.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse active on the NMC register.
  • Evidence of appropriate professional development, including a Mentorship qualification or willingness to undertake one; Health Promotion Qualification; and continuous professional development.
  • Experience of practice relevant to school nursing and working in the community.
  • Experience of inter‑agency working is an advantage.
  • Ability to deliver presentations to groups.
  • Good working knowledge of IT, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Good organisational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of the school nursing service and ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Reflective and innovative practitioner.
  • Ability to carry or manoeuvre light to moderate loads.
  • Car driver with a current UK driving licence, ready to travel to multiple sites; use of own car for work purposes is required.
