Express Recruitment are delighted to be representing a well-established Engineering Solutions Specialist who are looking to appoint a Mechanical Fitter on a full-time, permanent basis.
Our client delivers bespoke mechanical and electrical engineering services across multiple sectors, including water, utilities, and infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of mechanical systems and equipment, such as motors, gearboxes, bearings, and steel structures. You’ll also assist other disciplines on-site when required, including electrical and civil teams, ensuring all works are completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety regulations.
Working hours are 7:00am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday (please note this is not a door-to-door role — candidates must be on-site for a 7am start).
This role offers a competitive hourly rate of up to £21 per hour, with the opportunity to earn up to £50,000 per annum including overtime and away allowances. Roles and Responsibilities
- Carry out general mechanical duties across a variety of sites
- Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment including motors, gearboxes, bearings, and steel supports
- Conduct fault finding and remedial work on mechanical systems
- Assist Electricians or Civil Engineers when required
- Work away from home on occasion (typically Monday–Friday) when projects require
- Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety policies and site procedures
- Read and adhere to all RAMS and Safe Systems of Work
- Operate company vehicle responsibly and maintain professional standards at all times
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and clients
Skills and Experience
- Time-served Mechanical Apprenticeship or Level 3 Mechanical Qualification
- Experience in a similar role within engineering
- Current Confined Space training certification
- Valid CSCS Card
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving ability
- Sound understanding of mechanical installation and maintenance practices
