Job Description:

Our Machine Shop turns raw metal into race ready components against deadlines that don’t move. We need a Metallic Machinist to join the team milling parts for the race car and our external customers to tolerances that leave no room for a second attempt. Low volume, high accuracy, fast paced, this is machining where every setup counts.

  • Carrying out machining operations as directed by your Team Leader, hitting deadlines throughout.
  • Flagging machining problems early where they risk causing delays.
  • Collaborating with Toolpath Programming to solve first-off machining problems and suggest improvements to quality or runtime.
  • Working with fellow machinists and other areas of the business to establish and use best practice.
  • Inspecting first-off components thoroughly, confirming correctness before running the rest of the batch to the same standard.
  • Recording shop floor data accurately using Data Collection Software.
  • Handing over clearly and accurately between shifts, in writing and in person, to protect production time.
  • Logging job information in the handover notebook so future demand runs smoothly.
  • Sharing ideas for more efficient or effective production with your Supervisor/Team Leader.

This role operates on a night shift, Monday to Thursday, working 18:15 to 04.45.

This job description is not exhaustive, and the job holder will be required to carry out from time‑to‑time tasks in addition to the above that will be both reasonable and within their capabilities.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring:

  • A recognised apprenticeship or relevant experience in a precision engineering environment(preferably F1).
  • Extensive CNC machining expertise in low-volume, high-precision prototype environments, with the ability to confidently set, operate, and plan work across multiple 5-axis CNC machines while maintaining quality, efficiency, and delivery targets.
  • Strong knowledge of setting and operating Fanuc/Siemens controlled machining centres, preferable but not essential.
  • Previous experience using Hurco is advantageous.
  • A good level of knowledge manufacturing metallic and non-metallic components from aircraft grade metals and high quality engineering plastics.
