Assistant Finance Partner

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Finance Partner as part of a team providing a Financial Support Service to Wirral Schools.

About The Role

In this role you will deliver a solution‑focussed, innovative financial management function, enabling schools to manage their financial resources effectively. You’ll be a proactive member of a customer‑focussed finance team supporting schools to manage their budgets and plan their finances in future years through a service level agreement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Budget setting, monitoring and projections
  • Adhering to statutory guidance such as Scheme for Financing Schools and Schools Financial Value Standards
  • Providing technical financial advice to schools
  • Maintaining finance systems
  • Supporting financial decision‑making

About The Candidate

We are looking for a team‑player able to take direction from the Finance Business Partner – Traded Services while managing their own workload. Requires a formal accountancy qualification (such as AAT) or equivalent financial knowledge gained through significant experience as a finance specialist. Good interpersonal skills to develop sustainable and successful partnership working with all levels of school staff are essential.

Additional Information

Applicants must be able to work in different locations throughout the borough. Part‑time and term‑time‑only contracts will be considered for the right candidate. Interviews are planned for the week commencing 3rd August 2026. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check and Safer Recruitment & Employment Policy requirements.
