Role Overview
BRE’s Physical Security team delivers trusted testing and certification services that help set the benchmark for security products and systems across the industry. We are now looking for a Physical Security Technician to join our growing team, supporting the testing and evaluation of a wide range of security products against national, international, and LPCB standards. This is an exciting opportunity to work hands‑on in a specialist technical environment, contributing to innovative security testing programmes while supporting the continued development of BRE’s world‑renowned assurance and certification services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct manual attack testing of physical security products against relevant national, international, and LPCB standards and client specifications. This would include products such as doors, windows and enclosures.
- Support the preparation of technical data and information for security reports and certification documentation.
- Assist with drafting proposals for the testing of security equipment and systems.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, testing facilities, and storage areas to ensure operational readiness.
- Support the maintenance and development of testing capabilities and accreditation schedules.
- Contribute to quality, compliance, and testing activities in line with approved procedures and standards.
- Assist with the promotion of BRE’s security services through exhibitions, conferences, and industry events where appropriate.
- Support the delivery of testing projects within agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping within laboratory and testing environments.
- Contribute to the continued growth and technical capability of the Physical Security team.
Qualifications
- Ability to conduct physical attack testing activities in line with national, international, and LPCB standards, using a wide range of manual tools.
- Strong interest in physical security testing, certification, or technical assurance activities.
- Understanding of security products, testing environments, or associated quality standards and processes (desirable).
- Technical qualification in a relevant discipline, ideally at BTEC level or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to record and communicate technical information accurately.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage tasks and support multiple activities effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to support laboratory, equipment, and testing facility maintenance activities.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements within technical or laboratory environments.
- Ability to contribute to technical documentation, reports, and testing proposals.
- Willingness to support industry events, exhibitions, and wider business activities where required.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, professionalism, and technical integrity.
Location & Working Arrangements
On‑site – This role requires full‑time presence at our Watford office. You must live within a commutable distance.
