Investigative Support Assistant
West Yorkshire Police is recruiting an Investigative Support Assistant to join Protective Services, Crime based in Wakefield. The successful candidate will be an integral part of an Investigation Team providing administrative support to Investigative Support Officers, responsible for the complex case building function in relation to the investigation of major crime, leading to successful prosecution of offenders.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and file‑build support to Investigative Support Officers.
- Complete an in‑house file‑build and disclosure course within one year of appointment.
- Maintain and update case files and produce required documentation for prosecution.
- Use computerised applications, including spreadsheet packages, and extract information from databases.
- Attend required training relevant to the role and pursue progression from Scale 4 Entry ISA to Scale 5 Advanced ISA.
- Work flexibly to suit business needs and be willing to travel and work at other sites across the Force area.
- Handle cases that may contain explicit or disturbing content with professionalism and sensitivity.
Qualifications and Experience
- Excellent organisational skills and good command of English, both verbal and written.
- Basic working knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and relevant partner agencies.
- Ability to work flexibly, travel for business purposes, and work at other sites as required.
- Willingness and ability to undertake and successfully complete training courses and portfolio work.
