About the role

justteachers is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Primary School Specialist Resource Base (SRB) in Great Yarmouth. This full‑time, long‑term role begins in September and involves providing 1:1 support for two children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), specifically Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

You’ll be joining a nurturing and inclusive setting where personalised support, patience, and positive relationships help pupils thrive both academically and emotionally.

This rewarding position focuses on delivering consistent, structured support to two pupils within the SRB. You will help them access learning, develop communication and social skills, and build confidence in a calm, predictable environment.

Your role will be central to ensuring each child feels safe, understood, and able to engage positively with school life.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1:1 SEN Support — Provide tailored, consistent support to two pupils with ASC within the SRB
  • Emotional Regulation Support — Help pupils manage emotions, transitions, and sensory needs
  • Positive Relationship Building — Establish trust, routine, and clear boundaries
  • Collaborative Working — Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement personalized strategies
  • Adapted Learning Approaches — Modify tasks and communication to meet individual needs
  • Promoting Independence — Encourage confidence, communication, and social development
  • Behaviour Support — Respond calmly and proactively to challenging behaviour when required
  • Creating a Safe Environment — Maintain a structured, predictable, and inclusive classroom atmosphere

Pre-requisites

  • Experience with SEN/ASC in a school, SRB, or similar setting
  • Behaviour Support Experience is desirable
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Relevant TA or SEN qualifications are desirable but not essential
  • Two recent, relevant references
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
