Children’s Service Coordinator

Overview

The Cottage Family Centre is looking for a passionate, highly motivated and experienced individual with a sound knowledge and understanding of children’s learning and development as well as the challenges facing our families across our communities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a small staff team within a registered childcare setting.
• Provide advice, guidance and support to vulnerable families with children aged 0–8 years in the Kirkcaldy area who have been referred to The Cottage Family Centre.
• Support individual children to reach their full potential; enable parents to gain a better understanding of their children’s needs and empower them to improve their development by using strategies and activities that they can incorporate into their daily lives.
• Support the management team to develop a broad range of learning activities that are specific to the needs of vulnerable children and their families.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Managers must have a practice and a management qualification. The benchmark practice qualifications for a manager of day care of children services include:
  • SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7
  • HNC Childhood Practice
  • HNC Childhood Practice PLUS
  • BA Childhood Practice
  • SQA Professional Development Award (PDA) Childhood Practice (360 credits at SCQF Level 9) or equivalent
