We’re looking for a compassionate and resilient Support Worker to join our Mental Health Service located in Newham. No personal care or experience required, just the right values. £30,784.00 per annum, working 40 hours per week.

All applicants must be legally eligible to work in the UK by the start of employment as Look Ahead is not able to offer sponsorship.

Service Context

IBIS House provides short term accommodation for people who are medically fit for discharge following a mental health inpatient stay, or who would otherwise not require hospital admission but face other barriers that prevent them from safely returning to the community. These may include housing, living skills, accessing benefits or the community, or other interventions and will be on a person‑centred basis. The main aim of the service is to provide short‑term support to customers to link with longer‑term services to reduce escalations in need, reduce inpatient readmission and reduce pressure on inpatient beds.

Responsibilities

  • Assess referrals received by the service within the 4‑hour target and provide rapid response. Ensure all void flats are turned around within 4‑24hrs.
  • Induct new customers and help orient them to the community and local area.
  • Complete/support housing referrals as required, support customers with budgeting tools and provide assistance in accessing any benefits or addressing related issues.

Qualifications

  • Essential: NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent with some or equivalent sector work experience.
  • Desirable: Other relevant professional memberships, specialist qualifications, and languages.
