Service description
The Disability Supported Accommodation Service (DSAS) is a citywide network of housing with support and respite services for adults aged 18+ with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, individuals with a physical disability, adults who are sensory impaired or have an acquired brain injury. This is a 24/7 provision and candidates will need to be willing to work on a rota to cover days, evenings and weekends. The working pattern for this role involves working a Saturday to Friday rota, 210 hours over a six week rota and includes bank holidays and special days. It may also include sleep-in shifts on occasion.
About the Candidate
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide support to disabled adults with their day to day needs, within their own home, which may be within a permanent supported living environment or the Short Breaks service. You will play an active part in the continuous development of Assistant Support Workers and Waking Night Support Workers through one on one mentoring and observations.
You will also assist in the provision of practical and emotional support to citizens that will promote independence and will assist and support other involved parties, to ensure positive outcomes for all individuals.
Your role will include administering medication, assisting with all aspects of personal care and daily living including meal planning and preparation, accessing the local community for shopping and activities and support during medical appointments.
This post requires an NVQ Health & Social Care Level 3 (or equivalent), or be willing to work towards Level 3.
