Salary: £12.71 per hour, rising to £12.91 after successful completion of probation, increasing to £13.45 after a further 12 months in post.

Hours: Full‑time (37.5 hours per week) or Casual.

Job Overview

Support Worker for a supported living service at 40 Kelso Road, Leeds. The service provides high‑quality, structured support to five males with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs. Staff deliver consistent, person‑centred care to promote independence, routine and emotional well‑being.

The role involves a mixture of morning, late and sleep‑in shifts, including weekend and bank‑holiday working as part of a 24/7 rota.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with daily living skills, emotional regulation, personal development and meaningful activities.
  • Support individuals with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs.
  • Deliver consistent 1:1 support and promote independence.
  • Support communication needs using person‑centred and adaptive approaches.
  • Manage behaviours of concern using Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) principles.
  • Complete and review accurate daily recordings, support plans, risk assessments and incident reports.
  • Work sleep‑ins and weekends as part of a 24/7 rota.
  • Assist with medication administration.
  • Work collaboratively with families, professionals and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Experience in social care.
  • Desirable: Care Certificate.
  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism.
  • Patience, emotional resilience and calm communication style.
  • Ability to support individuals to develop skills, confidence and independence.
  • Experience with PBS and autism approaches.
  • Strong safeguarding awareness and professional boundaries.
  • Strong de‑escalation skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Resilience, compassion and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to build trusting therapeutic relationships.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, risk assessments and professional boundaries.
