Companion Support Worker – 08/Irvine/HS
Contract work of 12 hours per week, based in Irvine.
Salary
£14.59 per hour (living wage). This includes a mileage rate for assisting the employer with shopping or picking up prescriptions. Wages are paid four‑weekly in arrears.
Annual Leave
5.6 weeks paid annual leave, pro‑rated for contracted staff.

- Tues – 10:00 – 14:00
- Wed – 10:00 – 14:00
- Fri – 10:00 – 14:00
Employer can be flexible to suit school hours.
Job Purpose
To support a 50‑something lady with social support, helping her get out and about in her community, craft, gym, swimming, shopping, and other activities she enjoys.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the employer to engage in all aspects of community life and activities as directed by her.
- Be flexible and follow the employer’s guidance on the particular activities she wishes to participate in at particular times.
- Assist the employer to get out and about and engage in activities that suit her interests (swimming, cuppa and cake, lunches, arts and crafts, socialising).
- Provide companionship in her own home and some basic home support (make a sandwich, cup of tea, visitors).
- Support the employer to travel using her travel card on bus or train, and support car trips. The employer provides a travel card; fuel for car use at work is reimbursed.
- Ensure the employer’s safety due to her limited vision (use of cane).
- Communicate directly with the employer; she wears cochlear implants and can lip read.
Probationary Period
6 months probationary period. Successful applicants must undergo a PVG disclosure scheme update and provide two up‑to‑date reference contacts before appointment.

- Full clean UK driving licence.
- Own car; business use insurance required. Travel mileage reimbursed.

- Working knowledge of person‑centred practice.

Employment Support
The employer is employed by a personal employer who will administer payroll. The support organisation will undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities.
