As a Community Steward, you’ll respond to public enquiries, carry out inspections, and assess highway defects whilst engaging professionally with customers and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Carry out site visits and inspections in response to public enquiries and service requests from the Network Intelligence Operations Centre
- Categorise and log defects onto the Works Management System and update customers on progress
- Attend emergency incidents as the first point of contact to assess and respond to situations on the network
- Identify and control key risks and hazards on site, complete minor repairs and issue instructions for follow-up works
- Participate in out-of-hours or winter service rotas, which may include winter salting treatment
Qualifications
- Experience in highways maintenance, roadworks, or responding to emergencies and incidents
- Hold qualifications such as NRSWA, SSSTS, SMSTS, or similar
- Comfortable using IT systems and can communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors, and members of the public
- Enjoy helping people and can remain calm, professional, and understanding in a variety of situations
- Hold a full driving licence
