About the role

We are recruiting Support Workers to enable and empower our young people, working in partnership with their families and colleagues. In this role, you will support young people to make their own decisions and reach their full potential within a high-quality residential setting.

You will provide personalised support, responding to each individual’s needs, wishes, and aspirations. This includes supporting the delivery of high-quality care, health, and therapy, as well as helping young people develop independence and daily living skills as part of their evening routines.

All of our young people have a visual impairment alongside a range of complex needs (physical and/or emotional), meaning every day is varied and rewarding. Some individuals prefer structured routines, while others enjoy making their own plans, often a mixture of both, so you’ll need to be flexible, responsive, and able to use your initiative.

We follow an Active Support approach, doing things with people, not for them. Using a person-centred approach, you will support young people with all aspects of daily life, including developing independence skills, accessing the community, planning activities, and providing personal care in a respectful and dignified way.

We will support you every step of the way with a well-designed induction programme and comprehensive training, ensuring you feel confident in your role. We also offer ongoing opportunities for professional development

About you

We are looking for kind, friendly, and compassionate individuals who are motivated to make a positive difference in the lives of young people.

You will bring experience of supporting others, whether in care, education, or another people-focused role, and have a positive, “can-do” attitude towards helping individuals achieve their potential.

You will be confident providing one-to-one support, including delivering personal care to young people of all genders, always maintaining dignity and respect.

Your skills in communication, problem-solving, empathy, and adaptability will be key in providing tailored support. You will be able to build trusting relationships, respond to a range of needs, and promote independence in a supportive and encouraging way.
