Learning Support Assistant – Havering, London

Primary school in Havering, London is looking for two Learning Support Assistants to work full time from September 2026 to July 2027. The role will involve 1:1 support with an allocated child to assist with everyday learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the class teacher, Phase Lead, and SENCO to support children with a range of abilities, including those with an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
• Provide support in the classroom, covering a variety of learning activities and ensuring good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Use your initiative to enhance teaching and learning and pastoral care.
• Attend planning and development meetings each week as part of the Learning & Teaching team.
• Provide class cover when needed and attend to the wider school’s requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience working in a primary school setting with primary‑age children.
• Experience working with special educational needs (SEN) and a flexible, supportive approach.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills, with a professional attitude towards supporting teachers and students.
• Good standard of spoken and written English.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
