Please apply for this role if you are interested in attending our upcoming Lifeguard course to gain a Lifeguard Qualification. This is taking place at Leys Leisure centre from Monday 3rd August to Friday 7th August over 5 days (9am to 6pm). 100 percent attendance is required.

As a Lifeguard you will be an important part of life here at the centre as you ensure that everyone can use the pool safely and that they have access to everything they need to enjoy their visit. You will also receive fantastic training and development opportunities and benefits including free leisure access and other various discounts.

What You’ll Need To Do The Role

  • Interact with customers and provide excellent customer service.
  • Supervise activities and maintain high standards of cleanliness in the pool area.
  • Ensure safe handling and set up of pool equipment.
  • Respond to emergencies and help to save lives when needed.

No previous lifesaving experience is required – the role is open to anyone who has the desire to be a lifeguard and can meet the minimum requirements in a swim test.

Swim Test Requirements

  • Jump/dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds (usually 2 lengths of the pool)
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water (usually 8 lengths of the pool)
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool (usually no deeper than 2.0m)
  • Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits
