Bank Domestic Housekeeping Supervisor
Covering hospital sites in Workington, Maryport, Keswick, Cockermouth and Wigton.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of Housekeeping staff to provide high‑quality, safe catering and cleanliness services to wards and departments across Trust premises for staff, patients, and visitors.
- Promote and maintain a high standard of domestic services and in‑house catering.
- Adhere to Trust policies and procedures, attend mandatory training, and manage staff distribution across departments and sites, making adjustments as staffing levels change.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained to cover the service needs.
- Supervise all staff and monitor standards of work throughout their shift.
- Demonstrate duties and be responsible for the training of new and existing staff.
- Deal efficiently with departmental problems and complaints.
- Motivate staff and maintain effective communication.
- Complete weekly timesheets, monitor and maintain sickness records for all staff, and complete necessary paperwork recording on the ESR System.
- Adhere to Trust Infection Prevention Policies.
- Maintain a healthy, safe and secure working environment; ensure all equipment is in good working order, checked, maintained and recorded.
- Maintain a positive Trust image at all times and ensure department security.
- Prepare adequately for the following day’s shifts to meet service needs.
- Delegate daily tasks and monitor work to maintain a high cleanliness standard.
- Ensure a safe meal regeneration and delivery service is in operation daily.
- Ensure all cleaning schedules are adhered to, dealing with problems and complaints straight away.
Qualifications & Core Competencies
- Experience leading a team within a busy environment.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Experience working with computers and IT‑based systems.
- Domestic experience within a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of customer care and a hospital environment.
- Relevant supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication skills and diplomacy.
- Professional behaviours that promote equality and value diversity.
- Full, clean driving licence (desirable).
- Ability to travel between sites and attend off‑site meetings or training.
- Certificate in COSHH.
- Certificate in HACCP.
- Certificate in Health & Safety, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH).
