Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Assist the practice nurse and doctors with simple clinical procedures including height, weight, blood pressure, urinalysis, ECGs, wound care, removal of sutures, blood sampling, CPR, chaperoning, minor surgery, and general patient assistance.
  • Provide seasonal vaccinations and other minor procedures such as ear syringing and dressings.
  • Support infection control by ensuring clinical areas meet CQC requirements, maintain adequate consumable stock, and adhere to hygiene protocols.
  • Maintain accurate manual and electronic patient records, stock, and documentation to support the smooth running of the practice.
  • Implement health‑promotion activities, advise on healthy lifestyles, weight management and smoking cessation.
  • Ensure confidentiality and privacy of all patient information.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to promote mental, physical and emotional health of patients and their families.
  • Follow health and safety policies, carry out safe working practices and comply with the Trust/Practice procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse patient group, including those with learning disabilities, and adapt to fast‑changing environments.
  • Stay dependable, display caring and compassionate nature, and maintain a strong work ethic.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified in phlebotomy; NVQ Level3; NVQ Level2 in Health and Social Care.
  • Previous experience working in a primary‑care setting.
  • Proficiency with EMIS Web electronic medical record system.
  • GCSE Grade A–C in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Successful Disclosure and Barring Service check (subject to Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975).

Location

Greystone House Surgery, 99 Station Road, Redhill, RH11EB. Cross‑site working may occasionally be required with Merstham and Caterham sites.
