Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our dedicated team at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in shaping and developing speech and language therapy services within a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the speech and language therapy service across the prison.




• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist.




• Work directly with individuals who have communication needs, carrying out specialist assessments and interventions.




• Drive innovation and service development, including creating accessible information and services across the prison.




• Lead the ongoing development of the Neurodevelopmental Pathway, ensuring appropriate support for neurodevelopmental differences.




• Collaborate with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team of clinical and operational colleagues, contributing to a person‑centred approach to care.




• Maintain and develop dysphagia competencies through partnership working with neurorehabilitation and long‑term conditions services.




• Build strong partnerships with healthcare, education, criminal justice, and external agency colleagues to improve outcomes for a complex population.
