Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant

Position

HMP Winchester is a busy male prison with a capacity for 690 inmates. We are recruiting for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to support the wider team with tasks such as observations, second sign support for pharmacy, recovery assistance and wider ISMS Team support.

Hours & Salary

Hours: 37.5 hours per week – Tuesday to Saturday 08:00–16:00.Salary: up to £31,789 per annum.

Responsibilities

• Support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received, whilst promoting safe patient care.
• Develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

• NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care.
• Experience or knowledge of Substance Misuse.
• Excellent communication skills and a non‑judgmental, compassionate approach.
• Good IT skills and IT literacy.
• Ability to work within a busy environment and unsupervised while following policy and procedures.
• Ideal: experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
