Family Support Worker
- Waking NightsLocation: Weston-super-Mare, UKHourly Pay: £15.26 – £16.04 (depending on experience and qualifications)Part-Time Role: 7 shifts over 4 weeks (13-hour shifts)Salary: £18,052 – £18,975 per year
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing overnight supervision and support to children and young people, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and comfort throughout the night.
- Implementing care plans and support strategies as directed by senior staff, maintaining stability and consistency.
- Responding promptly and appropriately to emergencies, incidents, or behavioural challenges that may arise during the night.
- Maintaining accurate records of activities, incidents, and observations in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with children and young people to support their development and wellbeing.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to deliver high‑quality care and support.
- Adhering to safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality requirements at all times.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience working with children and young people, ideally within residential care, social care, or support environments.
- A relevant qualification such as a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care, or equivalent (or a willingness to work towards one).
- Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to undergo the relevant checks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to remain calm, professional, and resilient in challenging situations.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for accurate record‑keeping.
- Flexibility to work waking night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays as required.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Empathy, compassion, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
