We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with motivation and commitment to join our team as a Pre‑Registration Training Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) Apprentice to contribute to the Medicines Management Team.
Programme Overview
The role is part of a two‑year Level3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Programme. Apprentices gain knowledge and experience across technical and clinical areas of the Medicines Management Team, completing Accuracy Checking Training and contributing to the efficient running of the dispensary. On successful completion you will earn a formal qualification and be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Rotate through mental health, secure, and intermediate care services, as well as ward and community‑based teams.
- Develop medicines reconciliation skills, optimise patient drug use, minimise waste and improve medicines governance.
- Prioritise work, solve problems and maintain an efficient dispensary flow.
- Support medicines supply across the Trust through the dispensary, stores and distribution.
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
- Manage workload, adapt to changing priorities and maintain progress against learning objectives.
- Work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating professional behaviour and continuous improvement.
- Travel between sites as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Four GCSEs at grade C or above (new level4‑9) in English, Maths, Science and one other subject, or recognised equivalent.
- Experience working within a pharmacy or healthcare environment.
- Experience providing customer care and applying policies and standard operating procedures.
- Experience with stock management.
- Excellent organisational, IT and communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
- Self‑motivation, initiative and ability to work flexibly and prioritise workload under time constraints.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and recognise own limitations.
- Professional manner, respect, enthusiasm, supportiveness and honesty.
Eligibility
- Applicants must not hold a level4 qualification or above unless it is materially different from the apprenticeship.
- Must have been in the UK for at least three years. Temporary visa holders must have a visa allowing access to government funding, with a duration longer than the course plus an additional six months.
- Screening of prior qualifications will be conducted by the apprenticeship training provider.
