TeacherActive is delighted to be working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Coventry that is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 Teacher for a full-time, long-term position.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher who has experience working within Key Stage 1 and Early Years and is confident delivering engaging, creative lessons that inspire young learners. The successful candidate will ideally be phonics trained and have a strong understanding of the Early Reading Framework, enabling them to support pupils in developing the essential literacy skills needed for future success.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK (essential).
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 1.
  • Experience working with children in Early Years and KS1.
  • Phonics training and experience delivering high-quality phonics sessions.
  • A strong understanding of the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • The ability to differentiate lessons to meet the needs of pupils of all abilities.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND where required.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to teaching.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Create an inclusive classroom environment where all pupils can thrive.
  • Deliver high-quality phonics sessions to support early reading development.
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress.
  • Complete marking and assessment in accordance with school policies.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of mixed-ability learners.
  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and the wider school team.
  • Attend staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school training.
  • Attend parents’ evenings and communicate effectively with parents and carers.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

Compliance Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • Recent experience teaching within Key Stage 1.
  • Experience working with children in Early Years and KS1.
  • Two professional references from recent employers.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one through TeacherActive.
  • The Right to Work in the UK.
