Test Centre Associate
Your role will involve invigilating exams, delivering the DVSA application programme, and ensuring that procedural and testing guidelines are strictly followed. You will work in a dynamic environment across a network of test centres that conduct over 1.7million driving theory tests each year.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a high level of customer service to all candidates.
- Check candidates’ ID documents and book them into the system.
- Maintain the integrity and security of tests.
- Supervise and invigilate test sessions.
- Explain the test process and support any questions or concerns.
- Review test results and manage the test centre schedule.
- Carry out daily opening and closing procedures for the test centre.
- Ensure the test centre meets candidate needs in line with the Equality Act and our diversity and inclusion approach.
- Handle and report any incidents that could impact testing.
Work Schedule
Flexible pattern (part‑time or occasional shifts) with the potential for additional hours. Shifts may include:
- Morning – 08:30a.m. to 01:00p.m. / 02:00p.m.
- Afternoon – 12:30p.m. to 05:30p.m. / 06:30p.m.
- Full day – 08:30a.m. to 05:30p.m. / 06:30p.m.
- Evening – 04:30p.m. / 05:00p.m. to 08:30p.m. / 09:30p.m.
- Afternoon & evening – 12:00p.m. / 01:00p.m. to 08:30p.m. / 09:30p.m.
The Stockport Test Centre usually operates 4–6 days a week (Monday to Saturday). Candidates must be flexible to cover Saturday and evening shifts.
What You’ll Need
- Full UK driving licence (driving may not be required at all sites).
- Significant demonstrable experience providing high‑quality customer service.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet short timescales and multi‑task.
- Experience working with diverse customer groups.
- Excellent judgement and decision‑making skills.
- Flexibility in working hours and days, including evenings and Saturday.
- Ability to remain calm and manage confrontational candidates professionally.
