Role

Sales Assistant/Delivery Driver based in our Alnwick branch.

Working hours: full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 07:30–16:30 and alternating Saturday mornings 08:00–12:00.

Responsibilities

• Drive a 3.5T automatic van to deliver products within a 20‑mile radius of the branch.
• Serve customers on the trade counter, understanding their needs and providing product advice and recommendations.
• Respond to customer enquiries via phone and email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude.
• Make outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain business.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging new and existing customers.
• Perform general warehouse duties: booking incoming stock onto the system, putting it away, picking and packing customer orders, including manual handling of heavy items such as boilers, radiators, sinks and toilets.

Qualifications & Skills

• Valid driving licence.
• Knowledge of plumbing and heating (ideal).
• Previous face‑to‑face sales and customer service experience.
• Warehouse experience.
• Excellent customer‑service skills.
• Team player, willing to assist in all areas to ensure smooth branch operation.
• Strong work ethic, positive and enthusiastic attitude, eager to learn.
• Comfortable lifting heavy items.
