About the job:

To develop and project manage a range of digital priorities across NICPLD.

NICPLD is funded by the Department of Health to deliver a wide range of pharmacy learning and development programmes across Northern Ireland. Some programmes are also available to other healthcare professionals. Programmes are offered through two websites: and

NICPLD staff are employed by Queen’s University Belfast. The role is primarily home-based (remote working), with access to office facilities at the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency (NIMDTA), Beechill House, Belfast, and occasional in-person attendance as required. This hybrid arrangement differs from the typical working model at Queen’s University Belfast and reflects the unique nature of the post.

The post is full time although we can consider a minimum of 0.6 FTE.

About the person:

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Degree (or higher degree) or equivalent in Computer Science or other related discipline (e.g. Engineering, Maths, Physical Sciences);OR; Degree or higher degree in any discipline combined with 5 years relevant professional experience in a developer role;OR; HND or equivalent in Computer Science or other related discipline combined with 5 years relevant professional experience in a developer role.
  • At least 2 years’ professional experience of Supporting and developing business systems using high-level programming languages such as C#.NET, Java, PHP or Classic ASP.
  • Experience of modern JavaScript libraries or a current web application framework (React, Vue, Angular or Knockout).
  • Experience with modern CSS frameworks and styling libraries (Bootstrap, Tailwind CSS, Foundation)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of relational databases and experience of developing applications with Microsoft SQL, Oracle or MySQL databases.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff at all levels, working independently and collaboratively while supporting and motivating colleagues.
