Job Description:

A dynamic opportunity has arisen for a full-time, permanent Careers and Placement Consultant to join the team, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students within the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The role is central to enhancing student employability, delivering tailored careers guidance and comprehensive placement support to a diverse cohort, including approximately 500 students eligible for placements.

Working at the heart of the School’s Employability Plan, the postholder will lead and contribute to key initiatives that prepare students for successful careers. Responsibilities include delivering engaging large-scale presentations, facilitating interactive skills workshops, assessing student work, and providing personalised one-to-one career coaching. In addition, the role involves building strong relationships with local, national, and international employers to identify new opportunities, strengthen existing partnerships, and support the development of high-quality placement pathways and innovative employability programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

This role is ideally suited to a proactive professional with a strong passion for student development, placements, employability, and a commitment to strengthening the transition from education to industry.

About The Person

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • A degree or a post graduate or professional qualification in a relevant subject.
  • A minimum of 3 years recent experience in in a career guidance / advice role.
  • A minimum of one year experience in designing, delivering and assessing Careers education and/or skills training and
  • development programmes.
  • A minimum of one year experience in identifying and managing placements and building relationships with employers and other relevant stakeholders in the development of student employability programmes.
