Locum Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Position Overview

Locum Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist for a 6‑month rotation within the Directorate of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University Hospital of North Midlands.

Primary clinical duties will be across Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital with a combined 9.539 PA workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide full range of Gynaecology services: managing hysteroscopy lists, theatre lists, outpatient clinics, and Colposcopy in collaboration with existing consultants.
• Deliver full range of Obstetric services: managing Labour Ward, Section Lists and Maternity Assessment Unit in collaboration with existing consultants.
• Participate in on‑call duties and MDT meetings.
• Contribute to audit programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• MRCOG or equivalent specialist qualification.
• Current CCT or equivalent, confirmed by PMETB/GMC; entry onto GMC Specialist Register or eligibility within 6 months of interview.
• CCST or equivalent for obstetric care, confirmed by PMETB/GMC.
• Proficiency in Hysteroscopy and other advanced procedures.
• Higher degree or diploma (MD, PhD, FRCS) or BSCCP accreditation.
• Evidence of leadership, teamwork, audit participation and communication skills.

Additional Requirements

• Residence within 20 miles of the University Hospital of North Midlands, with ability to return to base within 30 minutes if required.
• Accessibility by telephone for on‑call duties.
• Willingness to work flexibly within an acute care team.
