About the Role
Hackajob is collaborating with Made Tech to find an exceptional Software Engineer who wants to see the real‑world impact of their work. Made Tech builds digital products and cloud services for the UK government, public sector organisations and NHS, modernising legacy technology and shaping the country’s digital future. We support local government teams in building accessible services and help the NHS use technology to improve and save lives.
We have grown quickly and are looking for people who enjoy navigating change, challenging the status quo, and helping others thrive. Our culture is happy, healthy, safe and inspiring for people of all backgrounds, so we encourage applicants from underrepresented groups.
What Does the Job Entail?
As a Senior Software Engineer you will write and deliver custom software for the public sector, working across central and local government and health. You will tackle a variety of problems—from monoliths to microservices—upskill colleagues and customers, and embrace continuous learning.
Key technical areas include Java, Ruby, Python, ES6 with React, and C# with .NET Core. Automation is essential; you will maintain a CI/CD pipeline that builds, tests, and releases many times per day. You will document architecture and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and OpenAPI, containerise applications, and work with AWS Lambda.
With strong DevOps experience, you will coach teams to use the platforms you build. You won’t be solely building infrastructure; instead you will empower teams with the mantra: “you build it, you run it.” Your role involves mentoring, sharing knowledge, and fostering an open‑mind, collaborative environment.
