Specialty Dentist in Oral Surgery

Role Overview

The Department is recruiting a Specialty Dentist to join our Oral Surgery Team. The role involves working closely with Oral Medicine, Orthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry, Restorative Dentistry and Special Care services, as well as collaborating with the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to clinical undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including DCT, StR, School of Hygiene and Therapy and Dental Nurse training, and to expand our dental sedation training courses.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a wide range of outpatient dental treatments including procedures under local anaesthetic, sedation and general anaesthetic.
• Provide comprehensive outpatient services across dento‑alveolar procedures and support the Urgent Care Service.
• Collaborate with anaesthetic colleagues from Birmingham Children’s Hospital and University Hospital Birmingham for general anaesthetic services.
• Work flexible 3‑session days in line with service needs.
• Participate in teaching clinical undergraduate and postgraduate students, delivering practical and theoretical instruction.
• Contribute to the approved specialist training programme to membership level and to the active Dental Core Trainee training programme.
• Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration and liaise with clinical and laboratory departments within the main teaching hospitals.
