Director of People

Overview

The University of Edinburgh is seeking an outstanding and experienced people leader to serve as Director of People. This role will shape and deliver the University’s people strategy, ensuring Edinburgh remains an employer of choice and a place where staff can do their best work.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership to the HR function of approximately 140 professionals.
• Shape and deliver the people strategy across three Colleges and a portfolio of Professional Services Groups.
• Drive organisational transformation, embedding digital innovation and AI within the HR function.
• Champion an inclusive, high‑performing culture and strengthen staff experience and wellbeing.
• Lead the evolution of the HR operating model in response to a rapidly changing landscape.
• Engage with the Vice‑Principal (Corporate Services), other members of the University Executive and the Senior Leadership Team.
• Build trust across a diverse academic and professional community and support the University’s Strategy 2030.
