As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of electric actuation systems and associated subsystems, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture and qualification.
Your responsibilities will include:
Responsibilities
- Generating innovative design concepts and product configurations for electro-mechanical actuation systems
- Supporting all stages of the design lifecycle, from requirements capture and proposals through detailed design, manufacture, and qualification
- Developing robust, lightweight, and cost-effective engineering solutions
- Producing high-quality manufacturing data packages, including drawings and tolerance analyses
- Leading and supporting detailed design activities within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and in-service requirements
- Supporting system integration and installation activities across actuation systems and interfacing equipment
- Conducting design reviews and delivering technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders
- Supporting risk identification, risk mitigation, and design assurance activities
- Investigating product issues during development, qualification, production, and in-service operation
- Supporting failure investigations and corrective action programmes
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, graduates, and placement students
- Supporting technology roadmap development and future capability growth initiatives
- Collaborating with global engineering teams to share best practices and drive continuous improvement
- Supporting customer engagement activities and new business opportunities
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification
- Demonstrated experience in a design engineering environment
- Strong understanding of machine design and electro-mechanical product development
- Experience developing mechanical or electro-mechanical systems throughout the product lifecycle
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience supporting technical investigations and root cause analysis activities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong organisational and planning skills with attention to detail
- Passion for engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous development
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience using CATIA CAD software
- Experience using Teamcenter PLM systems
- Aerospace product development experience
- Experience supporting qualification and certification programmes
- Knowledge of aerospace actuation systems and aircraft equipment design
