Senior Materials Management Operative – Location: Loughton, Essex Join our Materials Management Team and help plan daily work, ensuring the right resources at the right time, implementing process improvements, safety, audits, cycle counting, incident reporting, spoils/project management and escalation.

- Contract type: Permanent
- Working hours (current): Double Day shift – Monday to Friday, 6 am to 2 pm or 2 pm to 10 pm (alternating weekly)
- Future shift pattern: From 31 Aug 2026 transitions to 24/5 – three 12‑hour shifts (6 am–6 pm or 6 pm–6 am)
- Attendance: 40 hours per week, average; includes two unpaid breaks (30 min and 15 min)
- Salary: £39,031 p.a. on Double Day, rising to £41,313 on 24/5, after 6‑month probation £43,823
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day movement and storage of materials, ensuring systems and processes support safe and efficient material flow.
- Direct safe working practices, correct labelling, storage, handling, paperwork and system transactions; report and escale unsafe practices.
- Align deliveries and material distribution with production forecasts using FIFO principles.
- Maintain accurate system and paperwork controls (e.g., SAGE) and record all material movements.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory, legal and security requirements; support audits, cycle counts and address issues.
- Ensure safe access controls, including keys, safe opening and dual control at all times.
- Lead by example, mentor and coach material management operatives; escalates performance or process issues to the Working Team Lead.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in a stock control environment.
- Planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with computerised stock systems (SAGE advantage).
