Job Overview
This role involves architecting, designing, and developing Enterprise Data Management (EDM) and data solutions across MUFG entities including MUFG Securities, MUFG Bank, and MUMSS. The position focuses on driving innovation and automation to deliver high‑quality service to business partners while ensuring development is cost‑effective, aligned with business requirements, and compliant with architectural guidelines. The incumbent will mentor EDM resources and lead delivery against various initiatives and support initiatives across the EMEA region.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop EDM and data solutions as part of multiple initiatives across International MUFG entities.
- Drive innovation and automation to deliver the highest quality service to business partners.
- Ensure development is cost effective and meets business requirements and architectural guidelines.
- Mentor and lead other EDM resources that augment the team.
- Provide delivery support in estimations for different business initiatives.
- Ensure the solution follows and complies with technology policies, SDLC and best practices.
- Promote a dynamic, delivery‑driven culture that works in partnership with BAU teams and responds to business demands for change.
- Ensure designs meet customer requirements and MUFG/AMD standards, acting as a data support analyst to support a wide range of solutions across the EMEA region.
- Document data definition and design specifications to required standards to ensure transparency and supportability.
- Lead and mentor the team of EDM developers to deliver on project/change initiatives.
- Maintain good working relationships with other systems development and support teams and with the business areas for whom technology delivers projects.
- Work closely with developers, testers and end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.
- Contribute to planning, execution and verification of Integration Testing and Systems Testing.
- Support users to plan and execute their User Acceptance Testing.
- Ensure the solution meets assigned development project targets while maintaining high levels of quality.
- Gather business requirements from users and clarify needed deliverables as part of systems development planning.
- Support the user in documenting the business requirements during the initial stage of projects.
- Translate business requirements into highly specified conceptual and functional design documents.
- Create detailed functional/non‑functional design documents to enable user confirmation and developer understanding.
- Liaise with external and internal clients such as business users, Change team, and vendors to support project development functions.
- Ensure all activity fully complies with appropriate policies, procedures, and controls.
Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced proficiency in databases – SQL Server or Snowflake.
- Advanced experience with low‑code/no‑code data engineering/ETL tools, preferably Markit EDM (v19.2 or above); similar tools such as Informatica Power Centre acceptable.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, including hardware, databases, operating systems, LAN, and IT applications and service processes in a financial services organisation.
- Keen interest in latest technology trends.
- Detailed practical knowledge of software development and maintenance methods, tools, and techniques.
- Demonstrated understanding of strategic issues and authority on the SDLC and typical problems associated with information system implementation.
- In‑depth knowledge of Business Analyst and Systems Analyst practices; strong understanding of banking operations essential.
- Strong understanding of AI fundamentals, Large Language Models (LLMs), and agentic AI architectures, with the ability to leverage modern data platforms, governance, and data products for successful AI outcomes.
- Experience in projects involving Counterparty, Instrument and/or Market Data Cloud (AWS or Azure) and external tools, APIs, data pipelines, lineage.
- Task automation scripting languages: Python, PowerShell.
- Reporting tools: Power BI, SSRS, Tableau.
- Modern data architecture experience: lakehouse, data mesh; ETL/ELT tools such as dbt, Databricks.
- Source control: GitHub, Tortoise SVN.
- Batch scheduling: Control‑M, Autosys.
- CI/CD experience.
- Degree educated and/or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Good overall knowledge of the Murex platform and understanding of trade booking and trade lifecycle in Murex.
- Strong delivery track record and ownership of initiatives.
- Experience managing a team of senior technology professionals within a top‑tier bank or consultancy.
- Experience delivering large‑scale projects (preferably with an international scope). Confidence and gravitas to interact with senior managers.
- Business analysis experience in a top‑tier bank or consultancy.
- Thorough understanding of the project life cycle and experience compiling proposal, scope, requirements, and testing documents.
- Knowledge of software development life cycles.
- Product knowledge: bonds, derivatives, credit, securities financing, FX, loans, and deposits.
- Business knowledge of IAM frameworks, identity lifecycle, authentication vs authorisation, access provisioning models, privileged access management concepts, core access control principles, least privilege, segregation of duties (SoD), role‑based access control (RBAC).
- Knowledge of identity and access architecture, integration between directory services, applications, and PAM solutions.
- Awareness of cyber risk and control frameworks, regulatory expectations (e.g. PRA, ECB, EBA, FCA) and translation into access controls and monitoring requirements.
- Understanding of operational IAM/PAM processes, including onboarding systems into PAM platforms, managing service accounts, handling exception access.
- Awareness of evolving cyber‑security practices, zero‑trust principles, identity‑centric security, integration with broader cyber‑risk programmes.
- Technical knowledge: RSA, ServiceNow, Cyber Ark.
- Advanced Excel and basic SQL skills.
