Consultant in Stroke Medicine

Job Overview

Consultant – Acute Stroke Services at Fairfield Hospital, part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. Provide in‑patient and outpatient stroke care with considerable autonomy. Participate in the stroke on‑call rota and deputise for the lead consultant as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver acute stroke specialist service, including thrombolysis, thrombectomy and other specialist treatments
• Lead junior team on ward rounds and manage in‑patient and out‑patient work
• Assist the Group in meeting all outpatient and in‑patient waiting‑list targets and quality standards
• Participate in on‑call and emergency stroke service cover
• Raise and develop projects to improve service delivery
• Work across sites (Fairfield and Salford) as required

Key Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive knowledge of Stroke Medicine, including related medical specialities
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
• Background in Stroke Medicine, Acute Medicine, Neurology or General Internal Medicine
• Experience as a consultant or consultant‑level practitioner in a similar setting preferred
