The candidate will join Oliver Wyman’s Finance & Risk capability and work closely with the Banking & Financial Services practice. You will partner with UK, European and global clients to address complex strategic, financial, regulatory and transformation challenges.
Key areas include finance and risk strategy, balance‑sheet and capital management, liquidity and funding, credit transformation, risk appetite, regulatory compliance, smart pricing, strategic planning, financial resource management, operating‑model design and advanced analytics.

The Finance & Risk capability is central to Oliver Wyman’s reputation in financial‑services strategy and risk management. Recent engagements have spanned:
- Banking strategy and corporate finance: market entry, growth, M&A, portfolio optimisation, strategic planning and financial resource management
- Finance, risk and regulation: credit, market, operational and non‑financial risk, capital, liquidity, stress testing, recovery and resolution, ICAAP/ILAAP, IFRS 9 and supervisory engagement
- Balance‑sheet, capital and liquidity: strategic balance‑sheet management, asset/liability risk, treasury transformation, funding strategy and capital efficiency
- Credit transformation and risk operating models: end‑to‑end credit transformation, risk appetite, governance, three lines of defence, decisioning and collections
- Pricing, commercial effectiveness and customer strategy: smart pricing, customer and proposition design across retail, wealth, commercial banking and payments
- Digital, data, analytics and technology: platform modernisation, cloud, data strategy, AI/ML, model transformation and advanced risk modelling

Role and Responsibilities
Senior Consultants possess the expertise to shape client problems and develop specialised knowledge. Associates break down complex problems, identify core issues, and manage smaller teams to deliver analysis and recommendations. You will work side‑by‑side with clients, plan and execute analysis, and manage project progress.
Attributes and Experience
We look for candidates with:
- 3–8 years of relevant experience, ideally from a top‑tier strategy or financial‑services consulting firm, bank, fintech, regulator or similar organisation
- Experience in Banking & Financial Services, including banking, capital markets, insurance, payments, wealth management, fintech or financial‑market infrastructure
- Exposure to finance, treasury, capital, liquidity, risk, regulation, credit, operating‑model, transformation, cost, digital, data or analytics topics
- Hands‑on experience with data, analytics, modelling or AI‑enabled financial‑services transformation is beneficial but not required
- Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to conduct or leverage sophisticated analysis to identify trends, draw conclusions and present recommendations
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills, adaptable to different audiences and seniority levels
- Fluent business English; additional European languages are beneficial but not required
- Undergraduate or advanced degree in STEM, finance, economics, business or another analytically rigorous discipline
- Collaborative teamwork ability and an inclusive approach with people at all levels
- Resilience under pressure and willingness to travel to clients in the UK, Europe and internationally
- Track record of delivering results in a cross‑functional, high‑growth, fast‑paced environment
