HGV Class 2 Driver Team Leader (Waste & Recycling)

Overview

The HGV Class 2 Driver Team Leader (Waste & Recycling) position in Aylesbury, offered through Pertemps on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council, combines professional driving with supervisory duties.

Compensation & Working Hours

• £17.57 per hour
• Full‑time, temporary contract
• Monday to Friday, 44.25 hours per week
• Occasional Saturday shifts
• Immediate start available
• Temp to permanent opportunity

Responsibilities

• Safely driving and operating a refuse collection vehicle.
• Leading and supporting your collection crew throughout the working day.
• Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety procedures.
• Monitoring safe working practices and promoting a positive safety culture.
• Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
• Ensuring collections are completed efficiently and on schedule.
• Working closely with supervisors and colleagues to resolve any issues on route.
• Providing excellent service to local residents and businesses.

Qualifications and Experience

• A valid HGV Class 2 driving licence.
• A valid Driver CPC qualification.
• Previous experience driving HGV Class 2 vehicles.
• Experience leading or supervising a team, or the confidence to take responsibility for a small crew.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A strong commitment to health and safety.
• A positive, reliable and professional approach.
• Experience within waste collection, highways or environmental services would be beneficial but is not essential.
