Area Health & Safety Lead

Balfour Beatty – Hinkley Point C

Main Duties:

  • Lead and promote a strong health and safety culture across your allocated area.
  • Support the Deputy Head of HSE in delivering Alliance HSE objectives and standards.
  • Manage and develop a team of HSE Advisors.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to construction teams throughout planning and delivery.
  • Monitor performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead audits, investigations, reporting and assurance activities.
  • Ensure HSE data, KPIs, lessons learned and performance indicators are effectively managed and communicated.
  • Champion the HPC Way and contribute to the wider integrated HSESS team.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Chartered IOSH Member or working towards Chartership
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and regulations
  • Experience communicating HSE standards and expectations across diverse teams
  • Experience working with regulators, including hosting and presenting during site visits
  • Proven experience leading and managing HSE teams
  • Experienced auditor with strong assurance and compliance knowledge
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
  • Experience in a similar HSE leadership role within construction, engineering or the nuclear sector
  • Understanding of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions
  • Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Scaffolding and Coatings activities
  • Level 3 Award in Education & Training (PTLLS) or willingness to obtain
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with excellent attention to detail
