Overview

Medical Consultant role in Jersey’s Health & Care service, responsible for coordinating care between primary and secondary services within the New Healthcare Facilities Programme, and providing full clinical responsibility for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full clinical responsibility for patients, including continued care and timely medical reviews.
  • Advise and assist consultants in other specialties, delegate and train junior medical staff.
  • Contribute to clinical management and participate in both internal and external MDTs, consultant meetings, ward rounds and team meetings.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, audit processes and support clinical research activities.
  • Document and code clinical activities consistently for audit and monitoring.
  • Engage in risk management, governance, and the Care Group Leadership team supporting service planning.
  • Support education and training of medical staff including clinical fellows.
  • Participate in research and multi‑centre clinical trials where approved.

Qualifications

  • Primary Medical Degree with full registration in the UK.
  • Specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a current licence to practice (overseas candidates must obtain licence prior to appointment).
  • Higher specialty qualification – MRCP and FRCPath or equivalent.
  • Holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award (UK‑trained) or evidence of equivalence (non‑UK‑trained).
  • Valid Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

Salary range: £119,025 – £177,443.
