Overview
Medical Consultant role in Jersey’s Health & Care service, responsible for coordinating care between primary and secondary services within the New Healthcare Facilities Programme, and providing full clinical responsibility for patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide full clinical responsibility for patients, including continued care and timely medical reviews.
- Advise and assist consultants in other specialties, delegate and train junior medical staff.
- Contribute to clinical management and participate in both internal and external MDTs, consultant meetings, ward rounds and team meetings.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, audit processes and support clinical research activities.
- Document and code clinical activities consistently for audit and monitoring.
- Engage in risk management, governance, and the Care Group Leadership team supporting service planning.
- Support education and training of medical staff including clinical fellows.
- Participate in research and multi‑centre clinical trials where approved.
Qualifications
- Primary Medical Degree with full registration in the UK.
- Specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a current licence to practice (overseas candidates must obtain licence prior to appointment).
- Higher specialty qualification – MRCP and FRCPath or equivalent.
- Holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award (UK‑trained) or evidence of equivalence (non‑UK‑trained).
- Valid Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

Salary range: £119,025 – £177,443.
