Senior Mechanical Engineer – Robotics. Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a background in robotics, automation, or mechatronic product development? If so, our client is actively hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team in Cambridge, developing cutting–edge autonomous fruit harvesting robots that are transforming the future of agriculture.
Responsibilities
- Designing and developing next–generation autonomous robotic harvesting platforms
- Creating production–standard 3D CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks
- Designing robotic mechanisms, actuators, end–effectors, and integrated mechatronic systems
- Managing cross–functional communication between mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, vision and machine learning teams
- Producing and maintaining design packs and manufacturing packs
- Conducting tolerance analysis, GD&T and FEA to verify and validate designs
Qualifications
- Degree, HNC or HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience designing robotics, automation equipment, moving machinery or mechatronic products
- Strong SolidWorks experience, including production–standard drawings and assemblies
- Experience with tolerance stack–up analysis, GD&T and design for manufacture principles
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection moulding, casting, CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication
- Experience using FEA tools to verify and optimise designs
