Job Overview
We are looking for two full‑time (37 hours per week) Business Officers to join our team, providing administrative and financial support within Children’s Services. One permanent post is based in Cambridge and will support the Family Support & Safeguarding Team. One full‑time fixed‑term post is based in Ely until May 2027 and will support the Corporate Parenting Team. This is a varied role and requires a flexible and adaptable approach.
Responsibilities
- Handling telephone calls, correspondence and communications in a variety of formats.
- Data entry, analysis and maintaining records using Excel and internal databases.
- Preparing papers and reports for meetings and distributing documentation.
- Taking minutes at statutory meetings.
- Raising and processing invoices.
- Updating children’s records on internal systems.
- Liaising with external partners and agencies.
- Providing administrative support to Social Workers and Team Managers.
- Prioritising competing demands in a fast‑paced environment and meeting statutory deadlines.
- Liaising with external partners, including Police, Health Services and Schools.
Job Requirements
- Strong administrative skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, and experience using databases.
- Ability to work on own initiative, remain calm under pressure and manage tight deadlines effectively.
- General Education to GCSE standard with an A–C grade in English & Maths or equivalent (Essential).
- Desirable qualifications include CLAIT/IBT2/RSA/ECDL and NVQ or other Business Administration qualification.
