Resource Planning Manager – Audit

The Resource Planning Manager is responsible for planning and allocating audit resources across Grant Thornton UK offices to meet client and business demands, driving utilisation, ensuring compliance, and supporting people development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resourcing solutions that support client‑facing practice colleagues.
  • Drive the resource strategy for the business unit and manage a large pool of resources across national offices and operating units.
  • Forecast future resourcing needs based on the firm’s pipeline and business plan to ensure people are in the right place at the right time.
  • Collaborate with and challenge stakeholders at all levels, from trainees to senior leadership.
  • Engage with other customer‑service lead teams (Information Systems, Training & Development, Recruitment and Finance) to align resourcing decisions.
  • Monitor qualifications and audit rotation requirements to meet independence and regulatory obligations.
  • Use a resource management system to manage resourcing effectively across the business.
  • Provide MI insights and deliver meaningful data to stakeholders to support data‑driven decisions.
  • Build strong relationships with engagement partners and directors to manage resourcing risk on key client accounts.
  • Lead, coach and develop junior team members, sharing best resourcing practices and efficient ways of working.
  • Balance business utilisation needs with development, wellbeing and career progression of resources.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in resource management, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders at all levels, drive resource strategy, and manage both reactive and proactive resourcing.
  • Experience managing budgets and leading people.

  • Ownership and responsibility for data accuracy and MI reporting tasks.
