Overview
The Estates team operates within the Strategy and Central Services Directorate, supporting both Embankment House in Nottingham and Victoria Square House in Birmingham. The role ensures smooth day‑to‑day facilities management, covering maintenance, property and leasehold, cleaning, office equipment procurement, health and safety compliance, and the delivery of essential services that keep the offices open and functional.
Responsibilities
- Line manage, mentor and empower staff to deliver high‑quality facilities management services.
- Provide specialist health‑safety and facilities advice to senior management and staff across the business.
- Support the Head of Estates with strategic estates workstreams, including the Future OPG Estates Strategy.
- Assist senior leadership and the Project Board with the 2029 estate move, ensuring suitable accommodation is secured.
- Manage workplace services across both sites, working closely with the Government Property Agency (GPA) and partners to resolve issues and achieve quality outcomes.
- Act as Deputy for the line manager when absent, attending meetings and making decisions as required.
- Challenge emerging issues in estates and health‑safety functions, initiating process improvements and risk‑management actions.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the GPA Helpdesk and Workplace Services, to acquire work orders and achieve stakeholder satisfaction.
- Prepare and draft quality papers and briefings for senior leaders.
- Participate in monthly GPA performance reviews, addressing performance gaps and driving continuous improvement.
- Champion diversity, inclusion and D&I initiatives within OPG.
Required Attributes / Qualifications
- Strong leadership skills, including experience building and overseeing diverse inclusive teams.
- Experience in property and facilities management principles.
- Planning, organisational and project management skills.
- Understanding of OPG strategic priorities and how they align with estate deliverables.
- Experience in health and safety management, risk assessment and risk management.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word) and core IT systems.
- Desirable: Project Management qualifications or certification.
- Desirable: Membership of IWFM.
- Desirable: Experience briefing senior management.
Working Conditions
The role is based at Embankment House, Nottingham but requires regular travel to Birmingham and Nottingham sites. The position is open to hybrid working arrangements; the successful candidate will spend a minimum of 60% of the working week in an office, in line with local estate capacity.

Salary
National: £42,914‑£46,182. London: £49,325‑£53,081. Salary will be determined by base location.
